The station was launched on 11 September 2006 as Bay FM Radio with a month-long trial FM broadcast, followed by a continuing series of annual trial FM broadcasts in the Exmouth area, coinciding with the Exmouth festival.

Dear Exmouth AiR Radio,
I am a Year 10 student at The King’s School, Ottery St Mary. I am in the process of arranging my work experience placement for the week of 6th-10th July 2026, and wondered if Exmouth AiR Radio would consider my application?
I am interested in a placement with Exmouth AiR Radio as I am interested in that area of work and have heard about some others who have come to local radio stations and it sounded great! I feel that a work experience placement in radio would help me to learn more about this area of work and give me an insight into what I might want to do in the future.
