Yle X3M is Yleisradio’s Swedish-language radio channel for young people and young adults. Yle X3M was launched in 1997 when Swedish-language radio was split into two separate channels. Of the Finnish-language channels, YleX is similar. The corresponding producer of the channel is Isa Martenson.
The abbreviation of the channel name Yle X3M forms the Swedish word “extrem” when the characters and number are pronounced in Swedish, Ex-Tre-Em.
Yle X3M was the first Finnish radio channel to broadcast live on the Internet. Yle X3M did so as early as 1998. Today, the channel, like other Yle radio channels, can be heard live on Yle Areena. In addition, its news service Yle X3M Fokus and entertainment service Yle X3M Guld operate on Instagram.
