About Third World

Biography

Third World is a Jamaican reggae band formed in 1973. The group's lineup includes Prilly Hamilton, Willie Stewart, AJ Brown, William Clarke, Michael "Ibo" Cooper, Richie Daley, Maurice Gregory, Irvin "Carrot" Jarrett, and Cat Coore. Third World is one of the longest-standing and most influential Jamaican reggae bands in music history. Formed in 1973, the group pioneered a unique sound known as "reggae-fusion" seamlessly blending traditional reggae rhythms with elements of pop, soul, funk, disco, rock, and R&B. Over five decades, Third World has bridged the gap between authentic West Indian roots music and mainstream international pop culture, earning multiple Grammy nominations and widespread global acclaim.
